Healthy Diet

There are a number of different, unique ways to modify your diet to care for your heart. For example:

- Eating foods high in fiber and low in saturated fats, trans fat, and cholesterol can help prevent high cholesterol.

- Avoid consuming alcohol, which can raise your blood pressure.

- Prioritize home cooked meals!

Regular Physical Activity

- It can help you maintain a healthy weight and lower your blood pressure, blood cholesterol, and blood sugar levels.

- For adults, aim for 2 hour and 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise, like brisk walking or bicycling, every week.

- For children and adolescents aim for 1 hour every day.

Prevent Tobacco Use

- Cigarette smoking greatly increases your risk for heart disease.

- If you struggle with addiction, your doctor can suggest ways to help quit.

- If you do not smoke, don't start!
